Headaches

Almost everyone at one point or another has experienced a headache. Headaches can make even some of our simple daily activities extremely difficult.  Did you know that not all headaches are the same? There are different types of headaches and it is important to know the differences and how Natural Health can help.

One common type of headache is called a tension headache. This headache usually occurs either at the back of the head, at the temples, or across the forehead. Most patients describe the pain associated with a tension headache as a moderate ache that pulsates or throbs. Tension headaches occur due to tight muscles of the neck. There are several triggers for tension headaches including: poor posture, fatigue, stress, smoking, and jaw clenching.

Another common type of headache is called a migraine. Migraines typically present at the front of the head and are usually limited to one side. Some migraines will present with aura which generally is a change in the patient’s vision prior to the migraine.  Some triggers of a migraine include certain foods (red wine, chocolate, or cheese), stress, hormonal changes (menstruation), hunger, and bright lights.
