Ankle Sprains
Ankle sprains account for the most common sports injury. The majority of ankle sprains are due to an inversion force that affects the lateral (outside) part of the ankle. During the early stages of an ankle sprain, the best treatments are aimed at reducing inflammation which includes rest and ice. Once the initial acute stage has passed, additional treatment and rehabilitation can begin. Rehabilitation for ankle sprains is very important to prevent a decrease in ankle range of motion, chronic pain, or undying joint instability that can lead to reoccurring ankle sprains.
How can Natural Health Chiropractic help? The use of gentle chiropractic mobilizations will provide the ankle with movement to help maintain a normal range of motion. Soft tissue therapies can help decrease the formation of scar tissue, increase flexibility, and promote healing. Acupuncture can assist with the management of pain and support healing. Rehabilitation can strengthen the muscles and reduce the occurrence of re-injury. These are just a few of the ways that Dr. Falkner can help.
